The KOI World Cup and Training Camp was enjoyed by all those that were able to get there. Unfortunately more than 300 of our members were unable to attend due to a significant series of events which worked against us. First of all the Greek Government crisis which emerged earlier this year and then the strikes and riots in the streets of Athens led a number of delegations to cancel their arrangements. For those who needed visas the world situation and the fact that Greece is a Shengen country made things even more difficult. Under the Schengen agreement, transiting from one country to another within the Schengen area is done without border controls. In fact, the Schengen visa makes it possible to visit all the countries in the Schengen area and to cross internal borders without further formalities. Many of those who wanted to participate were therefore unable to obtain visas, a situation which we also faced in 2006 when Greece was the host for KOI 15, but this time it was even more strict.

In any case we held the entire event at Holidays in Evia which meant that no transport was needed thus saving time and money for everyone and all facilities including the super swimming pool were available on site which was great for families.

Once again thanks to all those who helped make the event possible and a particular big thank you to Dr. George Yerolimpos who literally saved the day for us in the middle of the most severe financial crisis to afflict Greece in modern times. Thanks too to Christina Bassoukou and the instructors of Kobe Osaka Greece who worked so hard for us during our stay. The KOI Instructors as usual proved up to the task and the Training Camp went well with everyone. We expect to announce the venue for the 20th KOI World Cup and Training Camp by the middle of November this year.
